In American culture today, Abortion is one of the most personal, widely discussed, and controversial topics. As stated in Merriam Webster dictionary, abortion is ââ¬Ëthe termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetusââ¬â¢. Pro-life and pro-choice sides take moral positions. While pro-life advocates fight against the termination of an unborn child, pro-choice advocates defend a soon-to-be motherââ¬â¢s legal right to make personal and heartrending decisions. However, no matter what the mother chooses to do, why should anyone have the right to force her to bear an unwanted child? Everyone is given the fundamental right to control their body and the functions it undergoesââ¬âpregnancy being one of them. There are over 200 million pregnancies every year. Two significant forms of abortion: spontaneous, which is referred to as a miscarriage and an induced abortion. A spontaneous abortion is a non-induced e mbryonic or fetal death. They may result from viruses including rubella, herpesvirus, parvovirus, and cytomegalovirus. Today, abortions are the most common medical procedures in the United States; approximately 40% of women have terminated a pregnancy at least once in their reproductive life. Abortion has been a crucial topic in our nation, dating back from the mid-to- late 1800s. It was widely practiced, until states began passing laws to make it illegal.
